Weeding Wednesday continues this week at our regular date and time, Wednesday from 5 PM - 7 PM at Colonial Lake!

We’re encouraging volunteers to bring a friend and stay for a chicken tender & sandwich social afterward.

The plan is: weeding from 5:00–6:30 PM, followed by a meal from Publix and time to connect with fellow volunteers.

Look for the Conservancy tent on Rutledge Ave. to meet the group!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning to officially open the Ashleyville-Maryville Food Forest!

We were grateful to have many speakers who have been instrumental in the completion of this park, including Representative Gilliard, Council member Tinkler, local residents and historians Diane Hamilton and Marsha Higgins, Alysann Sieren on behalf of Bank of America, one of our largest corporate donors for the space, as well as our our Executive Director, Jason Kronsberg.

Inspired by the mission of the food forest and the history of the neighborhood, fruit trees were given away on-site, courtesy of Charleston Trees.

We cannot thank the community enough for their investment in this project from day one, especially , seen here cutting the ribbon, for bringing the idea to install a food forest in this neighborhood to the Conservancy.

As the plantings continue to mature, we hope the community will gather and harvest in this space for years to come!
