Last weekend, WVABLE traveled south, and made our first stop at Bowen Field in Bluefield where we enjoyed an exciting day at the Red, White, and Be You baseball game featuring the Special Needs Collaborative of Mercer County, WV and the Bluefield Rail Birds ABO.

We had the best time meeting the athletes, cheering them on, and connecting with their families to share how the WVABLE Savings Program can help individuals with disabilities save for the future while protecting important benefits.

A warm thank you to Scott Smith, General Manager of the Bluefield Railbirds, and our friends at the Special Needs Collaborative of Mercer County for inviting us to be part of such a fun and meaningful celebration. It was an honor to be a part of your day and to celebrate all the amazing athletes! ⚾❤️💙

Welcome to Monday Myth Busters with WVABLE!

Monday’s Myth Buster: Opening and owning a WVABLE account is costly.

Fact: There is no fee to open a WVABLE account. However, you will need to make an initial deposit of at least $25 to get started. Once the account is funded and the account is in active status, STABLE account will issue a $25 grant to match this initial deposit. Additionally, there is no cost to maintain a STABLE account as the account maintenance fee was eliminated January 1, 2026. There is a small asset-based fee of between 0.19% and 0.33% depending on your chosen investment options. Click HERE to learn more.

Funds in a WVABLE savings account may be used to pay for a wide range of qualified expenses that support the WVABLE Account Owner – as long as the expense helps to maintain or improve the health, independence, or quality of life of the person with a disability, it can qualify as a qualified expense.
