Gorgeous low country golf!
Today's Tip - Bunker Bliss - When faced with a green side bunker shot set up is key. Set up should be open to the target with an open club face. Which means your shoulders, hips, and fit should all be well open to the target. Spread your feet slightly further apart than you would with a full swing and give your knees a little more flex. Another key is to focus on a contact point an inch or two behind the ball. Most golfers know that they are suppose to make contact with the sand first but I see players all the time still using the ball as the focal point. Pick a grain of sand an inch or two behind the ball and focus on it rather than the ball through the swing. This will ensure you make contact with the sand first and don't hit the dreaded skull into the face of the bunker which is usually followed by a club toss or stab into the same bunker face. This video of one of my students shows exactly how it should be done. Enjoy!
