PAPA ROBBIE

Everywhere I go, I take my flash drives with me. These flash drives contain thousands of files of music.
I listen to them in the car.
I’ve got a Zune 80gb and an IPod Touch 8GB that are both 19 years old and in excellent condition.

When “It Takes Two” came out, I was in high school, and I worked at Honest John’s Record Shop in downtown Charleston. So many people would call asking if we had the song, others would come in asking about the “rap song…somebody is hollerin’ through the whole thing”. They played that song ALL the time on the radio. The dance floor in the clubs lit up when the intro started..We played that song in the store non stop and sold tons of records. When I got to college, my freshman year, I had a couple of hall mates who were white dudes who had graduated from Wando. Their nickname for me was “Base” 😂🤣because I was a Black dude named “Rob”, and their only real understanding of Black folks seemed to be through rap music.

I started with Venus Flytraps a little over 4 years ago. Last year I decided to try planting seeds to grow some veggies. The results weren’t great, but I took notes. This year, things are looking better. Of course I’m still learning. I wish I started this journey long before now. I’m learning through trial and error as well as advice from friends & online garden groups about various things including how to deal with certain garden pests.
I’ve learned not only is rain good for your plants (duh), but it’s even better if there is lightning.

Lightning acts as a natural fertilizer factory by performing nitrogen fixation. While the atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, plants cannot absorb it in its raw gas form. Lightning’s intense heat splits these tough nitrogen molecules, allowing them to bond with oxygen and rain down into the soil as usable plant food.
Plants absorb these nitrates through their roots, getting a sudden nutritional boost that helps them build proteins, make chlorophyll, and trigger leafy growth. This is why after thunderstorms/ lightning, plants and veggies 🥦 grow like crazy!
