RID THE ROT

First, it helps if we fully know the definition of a word.

ROT: 1 a: to undergo decomposition from the action of bacteria or fungi
b: to become unsound or weak
2 a: to go to ruin: DETERIORATE
b: to become morally corrupt: DEGENERATE

Oh, my goodness, this could get deep folks…

In early Spring this year I planted some flowers thinking they would be safe from potential frostbite. Unfortunately, I was wrong. A couple of days afterwards the frost happened, and sure enough, they were hit hard. Surveying the damage I almost walked away with little hope that they could be saved. Then a still small voice said; “Clip the Rotting portions then water and nurture them.” I said within myself after hearing the voice, “Ahem… Ok, I’ll give it a try.” My lovely wife Missi asked me when she saw me working with the plants; “Are you trying to save them?” Determined but also uncertain, I said; “I’m gonna try.”

Each plant had heaps of rot that needed to be cut away, some even down to the ground. After clipping away the rotted portions I looked again at what was left of the precious plants and the uncertainty grew increasingly, to the point that even some doubt began to settle in. Looking at the small portions of plant protruding out of the ground, Missi replied; “Oh my, that’s not good!” Even so, the still small voice said Water and nurture, so I began to do exactly what I was told.

THANK YOU, LORD! THEY MADE IT!

NOW THE LESSON:

Boy was there a lesson! God taught me… ‘just like these tender plants, I have to cut away the rot that is in your life. Addictions, hatred, pride, bitterness, grudges, compromise, lust, anger, complacency, these things will rot you Danny, rot you to the very core, bringing forth spiritual death.’

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. James 1:14-15

Hey James, Thank you for the equation:

My Desires + Temptation + Enticement + My Sinful Actions = My Spiritual Death

When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But wise and knowledgeable leaders bring stability. Proverbs 28:2

👆🏻 True, and nowadays we could replace the word nation with the word church and find the same result. So many churches (denominations) are conforming to and copying the behavior of the world! 👇🏻

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2

LET GOD RID THE ROT!

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. Galatians 5:22-26

Thank You, Jesus!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, rid me of the rot that is in my life and nurture me! I love you Jesus. Amen
