Today, AmeriCorps honored April Ross, our amazing Site Coordinator at the North Charleston Community Center with Step By Step, Inc., as the AmeriCorps Member of the Year! 🌟
This prestigious award was given to only one person in the entire state of West Virginia — and that person is April! 👏
AmeriCorps celebrated her incredible service with flowers, a trophy, a brand-new laptop, and a huge congratulatory sign. The celebration took place at Mary C. Snow Elementary, surrounded by her peers and the students she’s served with dedication and heart for the past three years. 💙

Today, we had an amazing time celebrating Lights On After School Afterschool Alliance with our Step By Step, Inc. family! Our students shined bright through fun STEM activities, creating spooky pumpkins, painting Halloween canvases, creating affirmation canvases, and decorating delicious Halloween cookies. 🍪🎨🎃
The energy didn’t stop there — we laughed, danced, and cheered through musical chairs, enjoyed refreshing snowcones (thank you to the City of Charleston, WV for partnering with us! 🍧), and ended the day with yummy pizza and cupcakes! 🍕🧁
We are so proud of our students, families, and staff for keeping the light of learning, creativity, and community shining bright. 💡💙
