We can’t let the day go by without celebrating NATIONAL MOONSHINE DAY!!! And we can’t celebrate moonshine without and his amazing moonshine from ! We have known Dr. Conyers for quite sometime and it’s been an honor and privilege to watch him claim the moonshine space and really bring QUALITY moonshine to South Carolina.

He and his father, (who has been in moonshine culture for over 30 years) have done a wonderful job educating us on the importance of bootlegging and moonshine in the rural areas of the Carolinas. Moonshine afforded families with money to take care of home, the community, and future generations.

But there is a negative connotation to moonshine, but Backyard Distillery is changing that one bottle at a time.
What we love the most about his moonshine is the FLAVOR!! No, I’m not talking about Apple pie, or green apple… I’m talking about delicious notes from the fruit/grain that has been distilled. Dr. Conyers makes sure that he cleans his stills before and after use. This is why his moonshine tastes better than many spirits I’ve tasted. He cares about the process. He uses local, South Carolina ingredients in his moonshine varieties. He has moonshine made from corn, rye, muscadine grapes, sweet potatoes, and even Carolina gold rice.

Backyard Distillery is in Paxville, SC. If you’re ever in the P*e Dee area, merge off of the beaten path and see if you can grab a jug of his moonshine. It’s so versatile, you can sip it neat, or make a yummy cocktail! Moonshine is making a comeback!!
