The Citadel Electrical and Computer Engineering

Dr. McKinney is the head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department here at The Citadel. He has been with the school since August of 1997 and is the longest serving member of the department. When asked why he loves his job, Dr. McKinney answered: "I enjoy the field of electrical engineering, but I *love* interacting with our awesome students!" His biggest piece of advice for students in the field is: "Try to recognize that these four years of hard work will pay off with a lifetime of a rewarding career-stick with it and utilize the resources available."
Dr. McKinney helped start the Citadel robotics summer camps and the eWeek robotics competitions. He has also worked with the School of Education to help bring engineering and robotics programs to students at underserved schools. He has been married to his wife,Caroline, for 26 years and has two children, Jonathan, a rising senior at Furman, and Alex, a rising senior at Wando HS. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, working on jigsaw puzzles, and running.
