👋 hello from beautiful Oaxaca City! I hope you’ve been enjoying some of the pictures we’ve been sharing. It has been such an incredible experience to share with the littlest member of the R Lacey Design family. While she may not remember this trip in the long run, we can see the positive impact the beautiful landscape has had on her. It’s an infectious happiness!

We love a curved path…no matter how slight of a curve and how easy it is to see the end, a curve beckons you to discover what lies just around the bend.
This mini journey evokes a sense of relaxation and creates an informal atmosphere, even when formal plantings abound.

What a beautiful couple of days prepping and installing two absolutely gorgeous Willow Oaks ... We simply couldn't resist adding a little Bob Ross philosophy to our design!

The origins of Día de los Mu***os, which begins on Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 2, stretches back centuries in Mexico and is deeply rooted in pre-Hispanic Aztec rituals tied to the goddess Mictecacihuatl, or the Lady of the Dead, who allowed spirits to travel back to earth to commune with family members.

The celebration of Dia de los Mu***os involves the creation of an altar, or an ofrenda, with offerings that include photos of the dead, candles, their favorite food and drink, sugar skulls, and the cempasúchil — the Aztec name of the marigold flower native to Mexico.

Flowers, which symbolize the brevity of life, are an essential element of the Day of the Dead ofrenda.
The fragrance of the bright orange and yellow flowers is said to lead souls from their burial place to their family homes. The cheerful hues also add to the celebratory nature of the holiday, which, although it's wrapped up in death, is not somber but festive.
