Recount was unsuccessful in securing a win for our race. However I'm glad we ran through this procedure. We saw a glimpse of how few mistakes there are here, but also that they do exist. You should have seen the excitement Joe had when he lost a single vote.
I feel reassured about our voting system once the ballots are cast. Your vote matters. If you want government to represent you, please vote!
Robert Sheets also did not makeup the 1 or 2 votes he needed to secure a victory. His ability to stand up for what's right for our most vulnerable will be missed. Every vote counts! Get out to vote this November.
Joe Solomon will need all the help he can get as well as Sheena Griffith (ward 1) and Dr. Frank Annie (ward 13). I'll keep you updated about my efforts, but they are helping these folks win!
After recounts Tuesday, outcomes in Charleston City Council races unchanged Recounts in two Charleston City Council elections did not change the outcomes in either race Tuesday morning.

Mother's Day is a hard day for many—people who have lost their children, people are trying to have children, and people who choose not to give birth and are now seeing that right under serious threat.
So, what can the city of Charleston do without Roe v. Wade?
For one, we can strengthen our laws to protect women and people who birth children--including people seeking services like routine check ups that are currently experiencing harassment. Anti-Reproductive Rights Protestors are currently allowed to protest within 8 feet (Sec. 78-235). That's only 2 feet more than social distancing. We can create more safety than that.
We can also provide up to date communications with the greater Charleston area about what services are available including access to Plan B or other Morning After Pills.
We are in a harrowing moment with many unknowns. We need pro choice candidates even in the smallest offices like City Council who can find ways to defend reproductive health for years to come. What ever type of Mother's Day you're having, know you aren't alone and you are supported.
