Merry Christmas you filthy sinners!!

Well now, last night at Royal American was off the chains! I’ll leave it at that! You had to be there! The staff at The Royal American always take good care of us! Thursday night can be tough, especially with a big show right down the road, but our crew came out, and we had a blast. I understand the staff did as well!
I’ve been playing music since 1st grade. Started off on violin. Played that into middle school. Put that down and picked up the clarinet, and played that until high school. While in middle school, I started messing around with my brother’s beat up acoustic guitar.
In tenth grade, I joined Exit 215 with Jeannie Wiggins, Dale Baker, Paul Claytor, and Scott Rush. We played all of the classic rock stuff. A great sounding band, especially for our age. My guitar looks bigger than me, in some old photos I have.
I knew then, that music and entertaining would always play a role in my life. A few years later I met, just by chance, a distant cousin of mine named John Etheridge, affectionately known to me as Chooch. John inspired me to be original. He taught me how to basically write a song. He taught me to never let scrutiny or ridicule stop me from writing my own music. He set me on a path that I have stayed true to since. John also taught me to be a part of the band and not just “in” the band. That was valuable advice, and that one thing has kept me in successful local bands.
I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way. Promote other bands, connecting your band to bigger bands than yours. Having the ability to appreciate better bands. Being respectful to the venues and booking agents that put you on stage. Showing respect to other musicians, and the value that they bring to our local music scene. Returning favors. Don’t be a dick, basically! Those lessons have allowed me to play shows, that I would never have dreamed of playing when I first began doing this.
All of that leads me to this, I truly love and respect the guys I’m playing music with!!! I know I can be a fussy, grumpy, complaining freaking a hole, but it truly comes from wanting to be the best band that I know our band can be. None of us are delusional, or have visions of grandeur. We honestly play music for the same reasons. We love writing a good song and performing it on stage for our friends and fans!!
I had the realization last night, that this group of guys, Aaron and Zach Roeting, and John John Evans aka Raw Dawg, Big ZWIG, and JJ Steam, will be the final band that I will play with. You will see a more calm and content Sleazy Steve from here out. I also realized last night at the Royal American, that this is the band I have been trying my entire musical journey to be a part of!!
I’m finally satisfied !!!! Thank you guys for keeping me alive!!!! I will always be indebted to you!!!!
Now, what’s in the future for Resident Aliens? Glad you asked! We have a couple of great shows coming up, and then it’s writing and studio time! We have some great music to record, and are going to give it everything we have, to make it the best it can be!
And as always, thank you to our fans, friends, and family. We do this for you!!! And you guys always do it for us!!!
See ya soon,
Sleazy Steve
