Chardon Fireworks thanks everyone who helped last night & continues w/recovery efforts today (trees down everywhere). 1300 shells were loaded in launch tubes. After that step it is nearly impossible to cx. Rain was expected but not the terrible winds. Shooting the show early was the only option. Had the shells not been loaded, moving to Sunday (weather not looking great) would have meant a $3K re-set up charge & we would have had to guard shells overnight twice. Moving to an entirely new weekend would have meant a $7500 set up charge. We only had 23 donors this year (wonderful donors!) but we do not, as a private, nonprofit organization, have those kinds of funds due to so many not financially supporting the effort. This has never been a municipal event. We did the best we could, got soaked to the skin and survived! Thanks to the Chardon Hilltopper Football team all the Dumpster Bandit totes (some broken) were recovered from the CELC (Maple Elementary) front yard & parking lot this morning as part of their community contribution to clean up the trash after the show. THANK YOU HILLTOPPERS! To be clear, this was an extraordinary occurrence, and we are all very lucky no one was injured!

Here's hoping we can have a show next year. It will all depend on community support! Have a safe happy 4th of July. Happy 250th Birthday America!

G-TV's internet from Windstream has been knocked out. Monday, they promise we'll be back online! This impacts several services including G-TV's Chardon Square Cam. Bummer!!!!!
