🔹 Don’t click on links from unknown or suspicious sources.
🔹 Be cautious of “too good to be true” offers or someone making threats that create a sense of urgency.
🔹 Verify the recipient before you send money, especially when it comes to online relationships or donation requests.
🔹 If you get a phone call from an organization and are unsure of the validity of the call, immediately hang up and call back from an official number, which will often be listed on an official website.

According to data from the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA), households that use natural gas will see an average increase of around 8.4% in heating costs, and households that use electricity will see an average cost increase of around 10.2%.

These rising costs are driven by increasing demand for electricity, higher natural gas prices, and the ongoing cost of maintaining and upgrading our energy grid.

The good news is that there are smart ways to stay ahead of these rising costs. You can:

✅ Set your thermostat at 68°F when you’re at home and around seven to 10 degrees lower when you’re sleeping or away from home.
✅ Use your ceiling fan to circulate warm air by setting the fan to a low speed and running it clockwise.
✅ Check your HVAC filters and replace them as necessary.
✅ Take advantage of natural heating from the sun during the day by leaving curtains or blinds open during particularly sunny days this winter.
✅ Unplug non-essential appliances with LED screens.
