Lightening the Load
Before 2025’s 89th Legislature, Texas had not changed the basic allotment for Texas students since 2019 despite inflation. The legislature approved an increase of $55 dollars per student to bring the basic student allotment to $6,215 per student.
However, there is still a noticeable gap between current funding and the impact of rising costs and inflation on Channelview ISD and districts across the state.

Texas still rates below the national average in per-student spending. Some lists have Texas as low as 46th or 47th in the United States in this crucial funding area.

Antes de la 89.ª Legislatura de Texas en 2025, el estado no había aumentado la asignación básica para los estudiantes desde 2019, a pesar de la inflación. La legislatura aprobó un incremento de $55 dólares por estudiante, elevando la asignación básica a $6,215 por alumno.
