The Ada Foundation
A very exciting development - the University of Arizona has received a grant from the NIH to work on the development of a vaccine for Valley Fever in dogs. Valley Fever is a fungus found in the Southwest area of the United States and is common in Arizona. While Valley Fever is not usually a death sentence for dogs, it can have negative effects on many systems in a dog's body and typically requires prolonged (and sometimes lifelong) use of antifungal medications.

2 years ago today I brought Ada home from San Antonio. It's so strange looking back, we have no idea what the future holds. Treasure every moment with those you care about and love, human and animal alike.
A very big THANK YOU to Dr. Lisa Shubitz with the Valley Fever Center for Excellence at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Shubitz was kind enough to meet with us to discuss ways that the Ada Foundation can best support research into canine fungal diseases and also assisted us in planning for potential future involvement with veterinary mycologists. Thank you Dr. Shubitz!
