Life at Work Musical

The setting of the musical, Life at Work, is the fictional workplace Halonon Medical Devices, or Hal-Med as it is more commonly known. Located in the western United States of America, the site is a large facility with office space, research labs, and manufacturing operations. Hal-Med just happens to be a health technology company, but exactly what they make there is not critically important; for the purpose of the story it symbolizes any number of large industrial enterprises that collectively employ millions of people like you and me. And it’s the people that are in fact critically important; the personalities, the histories, the hobbies, the strengths and weaknesses, and of course the songs – these are what give life to the story.

So the corporate details are secondary, that is true, but there must be enough there to draw you believably into this space, so you can then really focus on the characters, their goals, desires, and interactions, without getting distracted by the ambiguity of the surroundings. Therefore, I give you Hal-Med, and the workers therein venturing to expand the Templeton line into new markets as they cling to the corporate motto: “Together we save lives”.
