Shawn chats with Ryan, lead developer of the Losi 22S Dirt Late Model, for an in depth look at how this purpose built dirt oval racer was designed, developed, and prepared for the track.

For years, getting into the Dirt Late Model class often meant building from a buggy platform, adding a conversion kit, and sourcing the remaining components yourself. The 22S Dirt Late Model offers another path: a complete 1/10 scale, brushless, ready to run race car built on the proven foundation of the Losi 22S Sprint.

Ryan breaks down the lower center of gravity, competition proven TLR 22 suspension geometry, and closed wheel body design that give the car the planted feel and door to door racing characteristics Dirt Late Model drivers expect. He also explains how the body’s asymmetrical shape, skew, and twist were developed to capture the appearance and aerodynamic performance of a full size late model.

The details go far beyond the body. The 22S Dirt Late Model features a molded roll cage, hand painted driver figure, detailed cockpit, scale Wide 5 wheels, and officially licensed Hoosier tires. A clipless mounting system provides quick access to the aluminum chassis, adjustable suspension, all metal transmission, sealed gear differential, and Spektrum brushless electronics.

Many suspension and transmission components are shared with the 22S Sprint, making it easier for existing racers and hobby shops to support both platforms.
