Phone banking is underway to help ensure abortion remains legal in Ohio. Republicans already attempted to squash this constitutional amendment by adding an impromptu election where citizens voted whether to change their constitution so that it would take 60% of the vote to pass an amendment. That amendment failed, so it only takes a 50% majority. They know that roughly 60% of the Ohio population believe that abortion should be legal. They knew they could win if they raised the threshold. If this amendment fails in November, Ohio women no longer have the right to choose within their state. We cannot let this happen.
Please join the Cleveland DSA on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 while we phone bank and get the word out that pro-choice advocates need to get out and vote on Tuesday, November 7. The state of Ohio women's reproductive rights depend on everyone working together to protect one another's freedoms. Just one evening of phone banking is better than 0.

Please share the message below if you agree that Illinois State Representative Carol Ammons should sponsor Bill SB 1909. This message was originally posted earlier this month, but we hope resharing might help gain support and sponsorship. Thank you for your time and consideration.
On May 2, 2022, a leak from the Supreme Court confirmed what pro-choice advocates feared: The Supreme Court was planning to overturn Roe V Wade later that year. Shortly after the leak, a pro-reproductive rights rally was held at the UIUC Alma Mater on May 5. Illinois State Representative Carol Ammons gave a speech during the rally, and she vowed that Illinois, “will only move further” when it came to expanding reproductive health care services and abortion access.
A year later, Rep Ammons has the opportunity to back up the words she spoke to so many people that day by sponsoring Bill SB 1909. This bill will hold crisis pregnancy centers accountable for lying or spreading misinformation to their clients. Fines for guilty parties will be up to $50,000 depending on the severity of the infraction.
Ammons has not yet sponsored this bill despite many other representatives taking the necessary measures to show support for reproductive rights. This bill would not only protect the people of Illinois, but also the thousands of people from out of state who are now forced to travel to Illinois to receive necessary healthcare.
It is time for Ammons to take a stand on this issue. We agree with what Rep Ammons stated at the rally almost a year ago: “In many cases we have people who are a little too conservative for me with D’s behind their names, and they don’t always stand on the right side of the issue. They don’t stand on this issue and we need them to stand, to be bold, and to be brave, and to speak their truth, and to make sure that you know where they stand on issues of reproductive rights.” The CU DSA Reproductive Rights Working Group urge Rep. Ammons to be bold, to be brave, and sponsor Bill SB1909.

The state senate bill is alive and the Midwest Access Coalition is pushing this one. Please sign the witness slip linked here and mark that you are a proponent. This bill will fine crisis pregnancy centers when they are caught spreading lies and misinformation to patients.
Last we knew there were far more anti-abortionists signing witness slips. You have to wonder why they are so against repercussions for telling lies to people seeking care.
The deadline to file witness slips in favor of this is 3pm tomorrow.
