True DNA Story

October is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ month. Well, we want to take it a huge step further. We want to make it Women’s Health Initiative month. Why? Because women’s health is SO MUCH MORE than just Breast Cancer.

There are three major things that affect your health and your life, in this order:
1. Your DNA
2. Your Diet
3. Your Environment

Why is your DNA #1? Because it *is* ‘you.’ It affects everything you think, do, say, and are. It affects how you react to what you eat, how you interact with your environment.

Why is food #2? Although your environment greatly affects you, if you starve to death, it really doesn’t matter. Did you know your DNA affects how well you absorb, or do not absorb nutrients? This also ties heavily into your gut microbiome, but that is a future discussion.

From the time you are a newborn until death, your food is the major determinant on body growth, ability to fight disease, pain, stress, and a host of other things. Your food, combined with your DNA, greatly affects how your body can adjust to your environment – either helping or hindering.

The Environment: The final piece is how your DNA combined with your food can even go so far as to affect how your body reacts, or doesn’t, to drugs, pain, sadness, stimulation, and happiness or joy. Knowing what you should do can help you manage your environment.

Here is a question to ponder: Did you know that many of the same genes tied to Female Breast Cancer are also directly tied to:
· Cervical Cancer
· Ovarian Cancer
· Uterine Cancer
· Vulvar Cancer
· Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) and
· Endometriosis.
If you are at a high risk for one of these, you should be watching for risk signs for the others.

Why aren’t all the DNA testing companies telling you this? Good question. The most popular DNA tests on the planet are terrible when it comes to helping you manage your health.
