Know your audience! Who are they? What are their needs, their goals, their objections? What are they really searching for? Where do they hang out online? How do they make decisions? Audit your site, content, or funnels for performance, clarity, and user experience. Find the gaps and opportunities for improvement. Evaluate your positioning and messaging, user experience, and SEO/AEO efforts.

It's not glamorous and it can take time, but this dirty work is foundational to creating a strong digital marketing strategy. You need a roadmap customized to your business, that will grow with you, and that will outlive popular trends.

Don't waste your H1 page headers on vague copy like "welcome" or your company's name.

This is prime digital real estate. It's often the first thing a visitor sees on page load.

It also helps search engines know what your page is about, and they can match it to search queries.

So make your messaging count!

Consider:

๐ŸŒฟ What do you offer?
๐ŸŒฟ Who do you serve?
๐ŸŒฟ Why does it matter?

Knowing the answers to those questions will transform your H1 copy, making it more impactful and more successful.

The first thing I do when reviewing a website is to right click, inspect, and scan the code for header tags.

Many websites are not properly using the H1 tag for their page's most important headline.

And in some cases, H2s - H6s seem arbitrarily assigned instead of following best practices. (I suspect this has a lot to do with how the heading tags are styled by their themes and templates.)

It is often a simple fix.

That can make a huge difference in both SEO and user experience.

Make sure each page has one โ€” and only one โ€” H1.

And use the H2 - H6 headers to show hierarchy of the page content.
