I think one of the inextricable parts of being human is the feeling that we've lost something. A perfect world we once held, some place where our hearts once felt seen and understood. A love, a friendship, a parent that cared for us, some garden of eden we lived in before the world turned dark. We have this irreconcilable longing not only to reclaim that place but also to encounter our hearts as they were back then; Pure. Overflowing. Known. It's terrifying to think we might never experience it again. To worry that growing older might just be a progressive fading of colors until everything is monotone. But what can we do aside from embrace our hunger, following it where it leads us, hoping it might one day be sated? To die is to be at peace.
