✨ Meet Professor Dr. Y Thien Nguyen, Assistant Professor in Asian Pacific Studies at CSUDH!

πŸ“š Dr. Nguyen specializes in modern Vietnam and Vietnamese refugee experiences, with research focused on the political, ideological, and institutional connections between the Republic of Vietnam and Vietnamese America.

πŸŽ“ He earned his PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University and has also served in teaching and research roles in the UK and the U.S.

πŸ“ His scholarship includes important work on Vietnamese anticommunism, Vietnamese American conservatism, diaspora, memory, and refugee politics. He is also currently completing his book manuscript, Diasporic Legacies: The Making and Remaking of Vietnamese Anticommunism.

🌏 Beyond the classroom, Dr. Nguyen serves on the Board of Directors for the US-Vietnam Research Center and supports Vietnamese American nonprofit organizations through consulting and grant writing.
