Uncovering the Ancient Civilizations of Mexico: Olmecs, Teotihuacan, and the Aztecs

This mini-course will explore three of the great ancient civilizations of Mexico, including the Olmecs, the metropolis of Teotihuacan, and the Aztecs. We will explore the rise of these cultures, their ideological and economic practices, and how their legacies remain important today.

Everyone — no matter their background — has a story connected to the food they grew up with, the holidays they celebrate, or the loved ones they remember. “Our Stories, Our Recipes” is a welcoming cooking club where we come together to celebrate food, culture, and tradition.

☐ Bring your favorite recipe (at least one or more per class meeting)
☐ Three-ring binder with dividers (protect recipes, and keep them neat/organized)
☐ Notebook or journal (jot down new recipes/cooking tips & notes)
☐ Pen, pencil, index cards (optional)
☐ Phone/Camera – to take photos of recipes and club events
