David Waymire For Sheriff
11/09/2022
As I sit and wait for the preliminary numbers tonight I just want to express my gratitude to this community. I’ve met new people and been shown more support than I could imagine. You all showed up when I needed and I’m praying it shows soon. I can’t begin to thank so many people for so much. If your the praying type please keep me in yours tonight.

Dear editor,
I have worked with David Waymire for over 14 years. I started working for him as a corrections officer and 911 telecommunicator and now work with him as the chief civil deputy. I have learned over the years that if I need an answer to something having to do with the operation of Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, I go to David. I find him to be honest and solution-oriented.
Preserving the peace, enforcing the laws of the county and state, and arresting those who have violated the law are just a few of the duties tasked to the sheriff. Additional responsibilities include administering the jail, executing all process and writs delivered to the sheriff, developing and managing the sheriff’s office budget, and being accountable directly to the citizens who have elected them to serve.
David has done all of this in his 27-year career as a law enforcement professional. He has chosen to work at the mid and upper-level leadership positions when given those opportunities, advancing his career with the goal of one day being able to serve as sheriff of Skamania County.
Apart from his law enforcement service, David enjoys serving his community. He has been part of the high school football program for over 20 years, serving as head coach for more than half that time. He enjoys mentoring and being a positive influence on the youth he coaches. He also helps with other sports and fundraising events for the student body. Wherever there is a school event, you’re bound to see David. He has also been active with the Skamania Count Fair Board and now serves as the president. Many enhancements and improvements have been made to our local fair under his leadership. He has chosen to volunteer at this level not for clout or status, but because he truly loves the community he lives and grew up in.
David Waymire is passionate about his service, both in his career as a law enforcement professional and as a member of the community. He grew up here, he raised his family here and started his career here. A career that he wanted from the time he was a kid. He’s the type of person you would want as a neighbor, as a friend, or most importantly, as the next Skamania County sheriff. When you review his credentials along with his work history with the office, you will find him as the most qualified candidate for the position.
