🔳 David Ligare: Sand Drawings 1973 ~ 1977

These drawings began on the beach below Ligare’s Big Sur home, where he drew directly with his fingers and hands in the wet sand. The marks were fast and intuitive. The tide erased them. What remained was a photograph taken in raking late afternoon light, and from that, each work was carefully rendered in graphite onto paper or canvas, some surfaces primed with aluminum powder giving the marks a quiet metallic undertone.

On view by appointment through June 30th at 615 Broadway, Seaside, CA. Presented in cooperation with Bernard Trainor.

Two luminous works by Anastasia Elena Baranoff, an award-winning American artist and fifth-generation egg tempera painter in a dynasty of distinguished Palekh artists.

“Blooms – Varicolored Iridescence” and “Azure Peonies” showcase Baranoff’s breathtaking mastery of genuine egg tempera, pigments hand-mixed with pure egg yolk emulsion, painted with extraordinary intricacy to create what she calls “a kaleidoscopic vision of resplendence.”

A graduate of the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, with studies at Parsons School of Design and Central Saint Martins in London, Baranoff’s work has been exhibited at the Haggin Museum, Mall Galleries London, and the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, and is held in private collections worldwide.

Featured works:
Blooms – Varicolored Iridescence, 2020, Egg Tempera on Paper, 11¾ x 16½ in
Azure Peonies, 2020, Egg Tempera on Paper, 11¾ x 16½ in
