🚗 U. S. Department of Transportation's V2X Plan: Going Further in Improving Road Safety 🚦

U.S. Department of Transportation reveals that it is working on road safety improvement through the implementation of vehicle to everything communication. The outlined plan seeks a V2X deployment on the National Highway System of 20% by 2028, 50% by 2031, and 100% by 2036.

But issues like scarcity of wireless spectrum and funding are still issues that need to be dealt with. The plan also accommodates funding for V2X model programs such as those in Arizona, Texas, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. These programs will demonstrate how the features of V2X technologies should operate in real-life scenarios.

🛡️Ensuring Safety: PPE and Cargo Securement for Truck Drivers 🛡️🚛

Today's topic is PPE and cargo security for truck drivers. Proper PPE usage, and cargo security are the most important thing as far as highway safety is concerned. 🚚🔒

Essential PPE items for truck drivers include:

🔵Hard Hat: It also shields from falling objects, which is most crucial during loading and unloading.

🔵High-Visibility Gear: Increases visibility to other drivers, especially in low-light conditions.

🔵Steel-Toed Boots: Protects your feet from heavy items while handling cargo.

🔵Safety Gloves: Prevents cuts and bruises on your hands while transporting cargo.

🔵Safety Glasses: And not too much dirt and junk in the eyes so that one can see.

🔵And remember to use at least four straps when securing cargo to ensure that the cargo does not shift during transit. Use of PPE, and cargo being secure will lead to a much safer work place, and fewer truck accidents.

The American Trucking Associations on July 26 commended the Senate Appropriations Committee for voting to advance the transportation funding bill with provisions that would support the trucking industry and professional drivers.

In addition to investing in vital infrastructure and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) programs, the bill incorporates measures similar to those previously approved by the House Appropriations Committee to support expanded truck parking, prevention of cargo theft, protections against predatory towing and the integrity of the Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program (SDAP). The bill now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
