The Thompson Divide Coalition
04/03/2024
Just in! The U.S. Department of the Interior announced a final approval of the Thompson Divide Administrative Mineral Withdrawal, which will protect 225,000 acres of public lands in western Colorado from future oil and gas leasing and mining for the next 20 years. In 2009, the Thompson Divide Coalition, comprised of ranchers, recreationalists and
conservationists, joined together to fight the threat of oil and gas development, generating strong community support in the process from local businesses, government and from public land users across the country. TDC is incredibly thankful to our local advocates and community supporters who showed up to events, submitted comments, engaged in legal and civic action, and never tired over decades to protect this incredible natural resource and beloved local treasure. Let's celebrate this much needed win for the planet and for the people of western Colorado!
