The Variable Sunbird is a small bird that feeds on nectar. It boasts remarkable sexual dimorphism, as breeding males flaunt vibrant glossy green heads and backs, a distinctive purple breast band, and a striking yellow or orange belly. In contrast, females and non-breeding males sport a more subdued olive-brown coloration. These birds are widespread across various habitats, ranging from open woodlands to gardens, and exhibit swift, purposeful flight.
