WTAMU Saxophone Studio

Last week’s studio class got a little chaotic… on purpose.

Each student performed a short lyrical excerpt while the rest of the studio became the “controlled chaos” team, following distraction prompts above the performer. Random noises, movements, and other little curveballs were thrown at the performer. Nerves don’t magically disappear when we want them to, and real performances are never perfectly calm environments, so we practice the mental side, too.

We’re learning to stay in the music when your brain wanders, keep your sound steady when your heart rate increases, and roll with distractions instead of spiraling out of control.
