đ TESTIMONY TUESDAY đ You need to hear this impactful story today!
__________________________________________________
My name is Jessiann and this is my story. I want to share my testimony because if thereâs one thing Iâve learned, itâs that Godâs grace reaches places we never think it can.
My story began with my grandparents, who raised me and my brother and sister because my mom was in prison after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even though our family faced difficult circumstances, my grandparents gave us a loving home. They made sure we were raised in church, and they planted seeds of faith in my heart that I didnât realize would one day save my life.
When I was 9 years old, my mom was released from prison, and shortly after, we went to live with her. Around the age of 13, I started rebelling. That rebellion quickly led me into addiction. For the next seven years, I battled an IV addiction to methamphetamine and he**in. I was lost, broken, and living a life I never imagined for myself. In 2020, I was charged with a third-degree felony. I was placed on probation, but instead of facing it, I ran. I absconded until 2022.
Then everything changed.
On March 26, 2022, I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter. Five days later, I entered rehab. I only stayed for 10 days before leaving without notice, once again avoiding probation. About a month later, my babyâs father and I were both arrested. I was released, but he was sentenced to 18½ years in federal prison. I was four months pregnant and suddenly facing motherhood alone.
In October of that year, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Arayah Sunshine. Just five days after she was born, probation wanted to sentence me to 90 days in an ISF program. Instead, I asked the judge to add another year to my deferred probation and allow me to participate in drug court instead so I could stay with my newborn daughter.
By the grace of God, the judge granted my request.
I was sent to the downtown womenâs center, but I felt like I needed more support than I was receiving.
Thatâs when I called my stepdad, Bruce. I told him I needed help, and without hesitation, Tracy opened her home to me and my daughter. For the first time in a long time, I had stability. Three months later, I welcomed my second daughter, Everleigh, into the world.
A few days before Easter Sunday in 2024, Bruce asked if I wanted to have my girls dedicated to Christ at Summit Church.
I said yes.
Looking back now, I realize that simple âyesâ changed everything. From that moment on, God began transforming my heart. While I was still in drug court, I met the man who is now my partner. He first became my friend, encouraging me, supporting me, and reminding me that I didnât have to carry everything by myself. Through his kindness, I saw another example of Godâs love at work in my life.
This year, by the grace of God, I celebrate four years of sobriety.
There was a time when addiction defined me. There was a time when fear, shame, and poor decisions seemed like they would be my future forever. But God had another plan. He never gave up on me, even when I gave up on myself.
He used my grandparents to plant seeds of faith. He used my children to give me purpose. He used my family to provide a safe place. He used my church to draw me closer to Him. And He continues to use every part of my storyâeven the painful partsâfor His glory.
Today, I stand before you not because I was strong enough to change my life on my own, but because Jesus met me in my brokenness and completely transformed my life.
My story isnât about how strong I am. Itâs about how faithful God has been through every season of my life.
If God can rescue me from addiction, restore my hope, and give me a life I never thought was possible, then He can do the same for anyone. No one is too far gone. No past is too broken. Godâs grace is greater than our worst mistakes.
