Another day, another reminder that not all technology companies take security seriously.
PCMag is reporting that the Trump Mobile preorder site exposed customer data — names, emails, phone numbers, mailing addresses, and order details — all accessible due to a basic web vulnerability. The issue was only fixed after outside researchers publicly called it out.
This is exactly why “buyer beware” isn’t just a cliché in cybersecurity. It’s survival.
Not pointing fingers, but too many products are launched without proper security testing, without mature processes, and without the accountability that real technology companies build into their DNA. When a platform handling personal data can be compromised this easily, it tells you everything you need to know about the priorities behind it.
Security isn’t a bolt‑on. It’s not optional. And it’s not something you improvise after the fact.
If you’re trusting a company with your data, make sure they’ve earned that trust. Look for transparency, proven security practices, and a track record of handling vulnerabilities responsibly. Anything less is a gamble with your personal information.
Trusted technology isn’t about branding. It’s about discipline, engineering maturity, and respect for the people whose data you’re holding.
Choose wisely.
Trump Mobile Site Reportedly Exposing Customers' Private Data The security flaw also suggests the carrier only has about 10,000 unique customers and about 30,000 T1 phone preorders, according to two YouTubers alerted to the bug by a viewer.
A recent report detailed how a pro‑Iran hacking group wiped 200,000 devices after gaining access to a Michigan-based company’s management platform. They didn’t attack the devices one by one—they went straight for the system that controlled them.
This is the part many organizations still overlook - MDM is a critical control, but it’s also a high‑value target.
When an attacker gets into your MDM, they inherit your authority. They can push configs, remove protections, deploy malicious apps—or wipe your entire fleet in minutes.
This incident is a real reminder to reassess how your MDM is governed and protected:
• Who has global admin rights?
• Are we enforcing MFA and conditional access on the MDM itself?
• Are API tokens locked down and rotated?
• Do we have alerts for mass wipe or mass configuration changes?
• Is our MDM treated with the same rigor as domain controllers or cloud identity?
The attack surface has shifted. The endpoint isn’t just the device—it’s the platform that controls the devices.
