Sunday , our Athens family lost a piece of our heart.
Donna was with us from day one, and she was so much more than a cook. She was family in every sense of the word a sister a daughter an aunt a friend. She was a constant comfort and a huge piece of the puzzle that made Athens Restaurant what it was for 50 years.
As we recently closed our doors after half a century it feels especially heartbreaking to say goodbye to someone who helped build this place from the very beginning. Donna’s dedication love and presence were felt by everyone who walked through our doors and everyone who had the privilege of working beside her.
There are no words that can fully express how much she meant to us or how deeply she will be missed. Our hearts are broken but we are forever grateful for the years the memories the laughter and the love she gave us.

Athens Restaurant may be closed, but Donna spirit will always be a part of it and a part of us.

Rest easy Donna Penix you will always be family.

Thank you to every single person who walked through the doors of Athens Restaurant over the years. Thank you for your loyalty, your support, your kindness and your love. Thank you for the memories we will carry with us forever - the conversations, the laughter, the hugs, the photos and the memories that meant more to us than you’ll ever know.

Thank you to those of you who waited so patiently to be seated , sometimes during the busiest days, with smiles and understanding. To those who came in and weren’t able to be seated , we are truly sorry and we are so grateful for your grace , your patience and your continued support. Please know how much it meant to us that you came at all.

Athens Restaurant was never just a business , it was family and you were a part of that family. Generations of faces became familiar, and many of you became friends .

Thank you for trusting us , supporting us and loving us for 50 incredible years. We will miss you all more than words can say.

Hello Friends! It’s that time of year where Athens takes her annual 2 week vacation. We will be closed from July 1-July 14. We reopen Tuesday July 15th! Have a wonderful Fourth 🇺🇸. See you soon
