Mountain Spring Ministries
Mountain Spring Ministries Newsletter
Let's see, first of all, I want to say “Thank You” to all who have pitched in, volunteered, and helped out in one way, shape, or another on the activities within the ministry over the past few months. The biggest jobs have been with food distribution and serving at the shelter in Canon City … I continue to be amazed and thankful to the Lord on providing such joyful, energetic, and talented individuals to get these jobs done.
We have been able to feed “literally” hundreds of hungry people in our community. God provides the funding, the food, the volunteers, the resources, the facilities. Sometimes I am thinking that I just need to “get out of the way”.
The primary objective of the ministry is pretty simple - “spread the love of Jesus”. I continue to get phone calls and I am able to visit with my brothers and sisters who have testimonies of doing exactly this. The encouragement and uplifting dialog brings a smile. Whether it is from folks directly associated with the ministry or those from local churches, I am encouraged.
A key aspect of the ministry is collaboration with churches, other non-profits, and local organizations. God can work through any and all of these groups and a little cooperation can go a long way. A shout out to the Deer Mountain Fire Protection crew, Fremont County Ministerial Alliance, Loaves and Fishes, Mercy Today, and many other businesses and organizations.
We continue to support our youth in different venues. They are included in serving meals, support to the FCA (more to come on that), and other activities.
We're making some adjustments to our regular volunteer roles along with selected positions. With a few different initiatives “in the works” we'll be looking for help. Part of this involves a greater emphasis on social media, podcasts, and the outreach through the internet. If you're interested, please give me a shout.
Oh, and our finances? The Lord has blessed us with a few, generous donations. We are now 501c3 approved, so we're not out beating the bushes, but the small contributions help. Funds have been applied to a few gift cards and groceries to serve the hungry.
What's coming up?
We're moving toward food distribution at Deer Mountain on a regular basis – every quarter and possibly more often as we continue with coordination.
We continue to work and expand distribution of resources. This includes everything from devotionals given out on visitation through references to counseling and groups like addiction recovery.
God continues to bless this ministry. We're still working through a “needs assessment” in several areas, so don't be surprised if you get a call to gather some inputs on this front.
Most of all, thank you for your prayers … this means everything,
Steve

Our crew (mostly from Cotopaxi) feeding at the Loaves and Fishes Shelter in Canon City on Friday. The good Lord provided us with what we needed to feed nearly 50 folks.
This group exemplifies Matthew 24:31-40.
