Eggplant for the win!!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A4i4qFh8K/?mibextid=wwXIfr

A new study out of Asia has found that high consumption—about 45 grams daily— of eggplant (aubergine) was associated with an amazing 58% reduction in risk for colorectal cancer. Eggplant is not usually thought of as a superfood but it’s actually loaded with cancer-fighting such as the anthocyanins nasunin and delphinidin (similar to what’s in blueberries). But the real anticancer secret sauce of this amazing vegetable may be the unique and powerful compound called solamargine. It’s been found highly toxic to human cancer cells in a test tube, with kill rates of 82% for lung cancer cells, 87% for prostate cells and 90% for breast cancer cells. The dosage of 45 grams daily is about half a cup chopped and has just 12 calories!

Tomatoes for less risk of breast cancer?!!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CWADWyowB/?mibextid=wwXIfr

An observational study in the USA found women with the highest blood levels of lycopene had a stunning 50% less risk for . Since Americans get 90% of their lycopene from tomatoes and products, it’s clear that this tasty red vegetable was the main factor at work here. And while all carotenoids are , lycopene is the most powerful. That might explain why it was linked with the best risk reductions for breast cancer in this study, as well as less risk for heart disease and even Alzheimer’s in other studies. Lycopene absorbs best from cooked tomato products like paste, sauce, salsa, juice and especially so when healthy fat is added like extra virgin olive oil or avocado. Source: Pubmed ID 9486468
