In May, the Idris Lab welcomed Dr. Bartholomew Ondigo, a visiting scholar from Kenya, to assist in Dr. Azza Idris’s ongoing research regarding the effects of malaria on pregnant women.

Ondigo, a senior lecturer and principal investigator in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Egerton University in Kenya, was selected as the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI) 2025–2026 Visiting Research Scholar.

The Visiting Research Scholars Program provides Harvard faculty with an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with international researchers in global health.

This summer, 18 students are joining the Ragon Institute of Mass General Brigham, MIT, and Harvard through the Ragon Institute Summer Experience (RISE).

This year's cohort includes 8 high school students and 10 undergraduates from communities across the Greater Boston area. They kicked things off this week with their first Introduction to Immunology class, a twice-weekly course taught by Ragon graduate students, and over the coming weeks they will work alongside faculty mentors on projects in our labs while taking part in cohort activities, from journal clubs to college and career planning workshops.

Welcome to the Ragon!
