Looking out at the Albaícin in Granada. You can almost hear the sound of flamenco floating down from Sacramonte. Con vista del Albaícin en Granada. Casi te llega el sonido de la gente bailando flamenco desde arriba en el Sacramonte ecothropic

Granada, Spain has a strong and growing Agroecology movement. Beyond organic, Agroecology brings together agriculture with politics, culture, just economies, and healthy ecosystems and people. Felipe and I spent the morning with Antonio harvesting veggies and putting together farm boxes. Grateful. With ❤️

A shout out to my Environmental Justice students at the Harvard Youth Summit for Climate, Equity, and Health. It was an intense week of learning, challenge, inspiration, and, thanks to YOU, hope. I miss you already and I’m excited to see what comes from your work last week!

More than 100 change-makers (students, academics, and activists) came together in July for the Harvard Chan C-CHANGE Youth Summits on Climate Change and Public Health.

The smoke from the wildfires in Oregon had travelled three thousand miles, making the air thick and pungent in Boston. Air quality was so poor that we had to cancel outdoor activities for our students. The intensity of the impact defied common sense. Meanwhile, these same students had gathered to learn, share experiences, and create their own plans for helping to address the climate crisis. But while I expected the Harvard Youth Summits to be a success, I hadn’t expected these two weeks to flood me with hope: even while wildfires blaze, we are part of a groundswell that is creating the future.

From the students:

My highlight was hearing from Siona Prasad because she made me realize that I can actually make a change in our world despite being one young person taking on a global issue. ~Amanda

My highlight was getting to hear from Jerome Foster because it was so inspiring to see someone only a few years older than us making such a significant impact. ~Clara

My highlight was hearing from and about people my age who are making a difference. Through hearing from those people, the act of bringing about change was demystified for me. - Eliana

My highlight was our group presentation because we were so in sync and united. That kind of bond is hard to find, I am blessed I got to experience that with my group. ~Winnie
