It’s International Women’s Day!!

Today we have chosen to highlight one of the greatest female athletes of all time…Billie Jean King.

If you don’t know anything about her then we strongly encourage you to go research her story as it truly is an inspiration to us all and a fight that is sadly still going on within the sports world.

Billie King was an American tennis champion as well as a strong advocate for equality in the sports world. She has won an incredible 39 Grand Slam championships in her career as well as winning one of the most historic tennis matches to this day, the “Battle of the Sexes.”

In this game Billie played against the male athlete Bobby Riggs in order to prove that women were not only equal but can in fact win.. She went on to beat Bobby Riggs and has had lasting impacts in today’s fight towards upending the notion that female athletes are less superior than male athletes.

Today we acknowledge the women in the world who continue to conquer despite what some Men tell them they can or cannot do.

Never stop believing in what you stand for.
