The Stone Fence was a staple in colonial taverns. Legend has it that in 1775, Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys downed rounds of this potent hard cider and rum blend for a dose of liquid courage just hours before their successful predawn raid to capture Fort Ticonderoga from the British.⁠
