Good Friday.

A day of quiet reflection… of remembering the weight of the cross, the depth of sacrifice, and the love poured out for us all.

We pause in the stillness today, holding close the truth of what was given.

Darkness fell, His friends scattered, all hope seemed lost… but heaven just started counting to three.

Join us for our Easter Sunrise Service at Lizard Butte, Sunday morning at 7:20 AM, as we gather in hope and celebrate the risen Savior.

Making the Most of Your Morning at Lizard Butte 🌅
The Easter Sunrise Service is a long-standing tradition for our community, and we want to make sure your experience is as meaningful and seamless as possible. Here are a few "insider tips" to help you and your loved ones prepare for this year’s gathering:
🕒 Timing is Everything
• Arrive Early: The service begins promptly at 7:20 AM, but the "early bird" definitely gets the worm—and the parking spot! We recommend pulling into the parking area shortly after 6:30 AM.
• The Trek: Remember, once you park, there is a steady walk up the hill to the service site. Give yourself plenty of time to make the climb and find a comfortable spot before the first notes of music begin.
🧣 Pack for Comfort
• Layer Up: Even if the afternoon looks warm, the Butte can be quite chilly before the sun breaks the horizon. Blankets are a must-have for the family.
• Stay Toasty: A thermos of hot chocolate or coffee makes the wait much more enjoyable. It’s the perfect way to keep your hands warm while you wait for the light!
🚗 A Note on Parking
• This is a very popular event, and our volunteer parking crew works hard to get everyone in safely. Please bring a dose of patience and kindness as they direct traffic. Following their lead helps everyone get up the hill faster!

The Heart of the Morning: Most importantly, come as you are with a heart ready to worship our risen Savior. We can’t wait to celebrate this glorious morning with you, your family, and your friends.

Today new handrails were installed to make getting up and down the stairs easier. A huge thank you to Trey Stokes for his skills in building and welding this amazing new addition to the Butte.

We are ready for you to join us on Easter morning at 7:20!

Easter Morning Devotional: The Resurrection - Our Living Hope

On this most glorious morning, we celebrate the defining moment of history - the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. As the dawn breaks and light fills the sky, we remember that first Easter morning when darkness gave way to the brilliant light of resurrection power.

The Empty Tomb: Our Foundation of Faith
"But the angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.'" (Matthew 28:5-6)

The empty tomb stands as the cornerstone of our faith. What began in sorrow ended in joy beyond measure. The women who came to anoint Jesus' body discovered something far more precious - the living Savior had conquered death! This historical reality changes everything.

The Resurrection: God's Declaration of Victory
"Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)

The resurrection was God's mighty declaration that sin and death had been defeated. The cross was not the end of the story, but rather the necessary passage to victory. Through Christ's resurrection, God validated every claim Jesus made about Himself and secured our redemption.

Our Living Hope
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you." (1 Peter 1:3-4)

Because He lives, we have a hope that cannot die. Our faith is not built on wishful thinking or mere philosophy, but on the historical reality of the empty tomb. The resurrection gives us assurance that all God's promises are "Yes" and "Amen" in Christ.

From Death to Life
"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:4)

The power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that transforms us. We are called to live resurrection lives—dying to sin and self, and rising to walk in new life. Easter isn't just about what happened to Jesus; it's about what can happen within us.

Our Commission
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20)

The risen Christ commissions us to share this good news. Just as the women at the tomb were told to "go and tell," we too are entrusted with the greatest message the world has ever known. And as we go, we have the assurance of His presence—"I am with you always."

Prayer for Easter Morning
Heavenly Father, on this Easter morning, we celebrate with joy unspeakable the resurrection of your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. We thank you that death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him, and sin could not defeat Him. May the reality of His resurrection fill our hearts with hope, purpose, and renewed faith. Help us to live as resurrection people, bearing witness to the living Christ in all we say and do. In the name of our risen Lord, Amen.
"Because I live, you also will live." (John 14:19)
