Belesemo Arabian Ranch
05/26/2026
Memorial Day weekend is a good time to look back and reflect not only on the people we loved that have made a difference in our lives, but also perhaps the horses that have contributed so much as well.
Breeding programs are based on generational performance - foal crop after foal crop. In keeping with our current important ranch mares theme lately, we thought we would feature a great mare line that has contributed to the program and is still contributing out on the trail and in the sport horse arena.
BELESEMA MOONSONG (Belesemo Trad x Moonczet) has been an important line down through the years when we first leased her dam from Kay & Bill Shiverick in 1983 - 43 years ago. Moonczet produced us 3 great fillies in a row all by Belesemo Trad, and the last - Moonsong, we kept in our broodmare band after she had a great endurance career with Anne Hall in Auburn, California.
Our special thanks to Anne for completing six 50 mile rides on her for us, proving her endurance abilities They are shown here at the Camp Far West ride in 1997 and our gratitude to Anne is endless.
Now, 29 years later Bentley French is shown riding Moonsong's son, BELESEMO MOON CRESENT (Belesemo Ibn Trad x Belesema Moonsong) two weeks ago at the Mt. Carmel XP Ride - riding the LD distance all 4 days and receiving some great awards - Overall LD Fast Time Award and Overall LD Best Condition Award. Congratulations to them both!!! We are excited to see more!
