Cairo Kiwanis Club

Cairo Kiwanis Club welcomed Amanda Rabon, Executive Director of Cairo Main Street, as the guest speaker at today's meeting.

Amanda provided members with an update on the many exciting activities planned for downtown Cairo during the upcoming Independence Day holiday. Events include the free showing of National Treasure at the Zebulon Theater on July 2 put on my United National Bank, the annual fireworks display at West Thomas Stadium on July 3, and the July 4 celebration featuring a golf cart and side-by-side parade, children’s bike parade, live entertainment, food, and family activities downtown.

She also shared updates on Main Street Markets, downtown beautification efforts, new seasonal banners, improvements to the City Hall lawn gathering space, and future plans for pocket parks and greenway enhancements designed to make downtown Cairo an even more welcoming destination.

Kiwanis members appreciated Amanda’s informative presentation and her continued dedication to strengthening and promoting the Cairo community.

Amanda was introduced by Kiwanis Board member and Downtown Development Authority Board Member Linda Drew Johnson.

The Kiwanis Club recently enjoyed a program given by Kiwanis member Jeremy Jones detailing Sowega Smoke Softball, a youth travel softball team based out of Cairo.
