The MSU Extension Office in Butte-Silver Bow will be relocating from the Business Development Center to the Don Peoples Sr Complex at 600 Gilman Ave, Suite 113.

Are you interested in learning how to judge poultry, rabbits, cats and dogs, and being able to judge at county fairs? If so, you are encouraged to attend a virtual Small Animal Judges' Training on Monday, April 20th at 6 p.m. This training is for any interested adult. The link to attend is available from your local Extension Office.

Today we did something a little different at Divide School… This was the 3rd school I have taught the Brassica (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kale, etc) lesson with and is one of my personal favorites of the lessons I have created.
We watch the Montana Harvest of the Month video on brassicas, then play a matching game of matching pictures with the name of the vegetable and categorize them by what part we eat (leaves, flowers, stems), and finish with a tasting. What was different this time was the tasting.
Our tasting allowed kids to see the major differences between the same foods with one being homemade with simple ingredients and the other being store-bought and highly processed.
Homemade broccoli tot is made from frozen chopped broccoli, an egg, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese. The store-bought tot had 23 ingredients!
The homemade tot is delicious 😋
