Top 3 misconceptions about a Textile Recycling Facility ♻️

❌"You get everything for free" - nope. We buy from local charities to help support their mission, haul, sort, store, and process tens of thousands of pounds before anything ever makes money

❌"It's all profit" — overhead is not cheap and labor is real. It takes a lot of man hours to pick up clothing, sort through, bale, wash, hang, photograph etc

❌ “Recycling textiles is always environmentally perfect” Reality: While it’s far better than landfill, textile recycling still has a footprint—energy use, transport emissions, and waste residuals

The most sustainable outcome is reuse first, then downcycling, with disposal as a last resort.

The real environmental win comes from keeping usable textiles in circulation longer, not pretending every item gets magically reborn

Did you know? Americans throw away over 11 million tons of clothing and textiles every year — most of it ends up in landfills 😬

Fast fashion has made clothes cheaper than ever, but the environmental cost is huge. The good news? Rewearing, thrifting, repairing, and recycling textiles can make a real impact.

Every piece saved from the landfill matters. Choosing secondhand isn’t just a style choice — it’s a win for our planet ♻️✨
