CVOEO
07/01/2026
With dangerously high temperatures expected across our region this week, CVOEO encourages everyone to know where they can go to cool down and stay safe.
Use the Vermont Department of Health's interactive map to find cooling centers and other public places near you where you can cool off during extreme heat, and check each location's hours and availability before you go.

🚨 Emergency Cooling Center
In addition to these public locations, an Emergency Regional Cooling Center will be open at:
📍 Champlain Valley Union High School Library
369 CVU Road, Hinesburg
Hours:
• Wednesday, July 1: 12:00 PM–7:00 PM
• Thursday, July 2: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Friday, July 3: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
Several public locations are available throughout the Burlington area during regular business hours:
📍 Fletcher Free Library
• Main Library (235 College St.)
• New North End Branch (1127 North Ave.)
📍 COTS Daystation (18+ only)
95 North Avenue
📍 CVOEO Community Resource Center
228 North Winooski Avenue
Open Wednesday & Thursday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
CVOEO's Community Resource Center continues to be open to all ages and offers an air-conditioned space to cool off, along with snacks, phone access, support accessing benefits and resources, and housing and survival services during designated hours.
💧 City Hall Park's interactive fountain is also open, and Burlington's waterfront and beaches remain available. If visiting the waterfront, be aware that water temperatures remain cold and can present additional safety risks.
Older adults, young children, people who are pregnant, people experiencing homelessness, outdoor workers, and anyone without reliable access to air conditioning are at greater risk for heat-related illness.
If you experience heavy sweating, muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea, or a headache, move to a cool place, drink water, and rest. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or symptoms worsen, call 911 immediately.
Please check on your neighbors, friends, and loved ones during this period of extreme heat. Small acts of care can make a lifesaving difference. 💙
