"Fibromyalgia: Inflammatory vs Anti-inflammatory Foods
Fibromyalgia is an inflammatory illness, so it stands to reason that we should avoid foods that increase our inflammation and bring on flares. At the end, I will tell you the best foods to eat.
You know your body best, so you know some foods that will trigger a flare for you. Really work on avoiding those. Packaged foods that contain preservatives and food coloring should be avoided. Self medicating with caffeine is counterproductive, but I have done it anyway on numerous occasions when I’ve been so tired. It’s a huge temptation, right?
Sugar, and carbs made with white flour, can cause a crash soon after consumption. I am a big proponent of clean eating, although occasionally I will eat white flour carbs. Inevitably my body will remind me why it was not a good idea. Can you relate?
Artificial sweeteners and foods sweetened with them can wreak havoc as they are laden with chemicals. Splenda can enlarge both the liver and kidneys and shrink the thymus glands. Aspartame can cause hallucinations, seizures, and brain tumors. Artificial sweeteners are not good for anyone really, but those of us with fibromyalgia tend to be very sensitive to chemicals.
Read your labels carefully and avoid hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, ingredients you can’t pronounce (the fewer ingredients the better), and GMO (genetically modified) foods.
Avoid highly inflammatory ‘nightshade’ foods:
Bell pepper (sweet pepper)
Italian pepper
Chile pepper
Anaheim
Ancho
Cascabel
Chipotle
Fresno
Guajillo
Habañero
Jalapeño
Pasada
Pasilla
Pimiento / Pimento
Poblano
Serrano
Eggplant
White Potatoes
Tomatillo
SPICES
Cayenne
Chili powder (some ingredients of)
Curry (some ingredients of)
Paprika
SAUCES
Ketchup
Tabasco
CULINARY FRUIT
Goldenberry (Cape gooseberry)
Goji berry
Pepino
Tamarillo
Changes I highly recommend, as a Certified Nutrition Consultant (make them slowly):
Natural sweeteners such as real maple syrup and raw honey.
Healthy protein such as wild caught salmon, free-range chicken, grass-fed beef.
Lots of fruits and veggies, organic, locally grown and pesticide free.
Gluten-free when you can. I’m not crazy about gluten-free breads, but I do enjoy sourdough bread at times. It’s really trial and error.
Nuts and seeds, preferably raw, such as walnuts, cashews, pistachios, macadamia, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and almonds, chia seeds, and flax seeds.
Lots of leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and leafy lettuces. These are great in smoothies and you won’t even taste them.
Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, raspberries, pineapple, and oranges.
Nut milks such as almond and cashew.
Good oils such as virgin olive oil and coconut oil.
Bok choy, celery, beets, and broccoli
Turmeric, and ginger."
Comment: This is a general list of foods to avoid and eat for fibromyalgia patients but to know the specific diet in a patient I order certain tests as a complete hair analysis, etc. I recommend this general list of foods for fibromyalgia patients during the complete detoxification program before receiving the lab results. In order to know about the importance of a complete hair analysis please read the article on it on this page.

Fibromyalgia Diet
This article is from www.healthline.com:
"Aim for a well-rounded diet
Eating a balanced diet is a good idea for anyone, regardless of whether you have fibromyalgia. That diet should include fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, fermented dairy, and lean protein, such as chicken or fish. Avoid unhealthy foods, including anything processed or fried, and excessive amounts of saturated fats. Also, limit the amount of salt and sugar in your diet.
Eat for energy
Fibromyalgia can make you feel tired and worn out. Eating certain foods can give you more energy. Avoid sweets, which will only give you a quick sugar boost. Your body will burn right through them, and then you’ll crash. Instead, eat foods that will give you more energy to get through your day. Combine protein or fats with carbohydrates to slow down their absorption. Choose fresh, whole foods high in fiber and low in added sugars, such as:
almonds and other nuts and seeds
broccoli
beans
dark leafy greens
avocado
While there is no single “fibromyalgia diet,” research does reveal that certain ingredients or types of food may be problematic for those with fibromyalgia. These include:
FODMAPs
gluten-containing foods
food additives or food chemicals
excitotoxins, such as MSG
Some people do confirm that they feel better when they eat — or avoid — certain types of foods. You may need to keep a food diary to find out which foods seem to trigger or improve your symptoms. Read on to learn about foods that may negatively affect your symptoms.
FODMAPs
Fermentable oligosaccharide, disaccharide, monosaccharide, and polyols (FODMAPs) are certain carbohydrates that are fermented by gut bacteria in the digestive tract and may promote symptoms in some people. A recent study found that those with fibromyalgia had improved symptoms and quality of life and lost weight when following a low-FODMAP diet.
Gluten sensitivity
A 2014 study reported that non-celiac gluten sensitivity may be an underlying cause of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia patients who were negative for celiac disease still had significant improvements in pain and/or quality of life indicators when following a gluten-free diet.
Excitotoxins and food additives
In 2016, the journal Pain Management reported that a one-month elimination of aspartame, monosodium glutamate (MSG), and altered proteins — like those found in protein isolates and hydrolyzed protein — resulted in significantly improved pain symptoms. When patients added those substances back into their diets, their symptoms returned or worsened.
Maintain a healthy weight
Another benefit of eating a healthy diet is that it can help keep your weight under control. One study in the journal Clinical Rheumatology found that people with fibromyalgia who are also obese enjoyed a better quality of life once they lost weight. They had less pain and depression, fewer tender points, and they slept better after taking off a few pounds. This study suggests that weight loss can be an important part of fibromyalgia treatment."
Comment: It's also better to avoid all the foods of the nightshade family: tomatoes, eggplant, white potatoes, green peppers, goji berries, and both the eye-watering chilies and the sweeter bell peppers. This is a general diet for fibromyalgia patients but to know the specific diet in a patient I order certain tests as a complete hair analysis, etc. I recommend this general diet during the complete detoxification program before receiving the lab results. In order to know about the importance of a complete hair analysis please read the article on it on this page.

This scientific study shows that two inflammatory substances, IL-6 and IL-8 are produced in excess in fibromyalgia patients as part of a chronic inflammation. They contribute to pain, insomnia, fatigue, etc. which are very common symptoms in fibromyalgia patients. In my experience, it's possible to fix chronic inflammation following a complete natural health program.
A hair analysis is recommended to know how stress is affecting health and producing chronic inflammation. For more information on the hair analysis, you may read the articles on it and fibromyalgia at the beginning of the page.
Chronic mental/emotional stress, incorrect lifestyle (incorrect diet, negative emotions, etc.), environmental pollutants, eating of gluten/GMOs foods, an excess of body fat, etc. may lead to chronic inflammation.

HAIR ANALYSIS
(Spanish: EXAMEN DE PELO: LUEGO DE LA PARTE EN INGLÉS PUEDE LEER LA PARTE EN ESPAÑOL.)
Hair tissue mineral analysis simply stated, is a screening test that measures the mineral content of your hair. However, a hair tissue mineral analysis is much more than a test for minerals.
Mineral Blueprint
Providing a mineral blueprint of one’s biochemistry, a hair tissue mineral analysis can provide pertinent information about your metabolic rate, energy levels, sugar and carbohydrate tolerance, stage of stress, immune system and glandular activity.
A hair tissue mineral analysis performed is a screening test for the level of 20 minerals and toxic metals in a sample of hair. It is a tissue mineral biopsy that is non-invasive, relatively inexpensive and extremely accurate. The laboratory uses only the most advanced and sophisticated instrumentation available today, the Perkin Elmer Elan 9000 ICP Mass Spectrometer to assess mineral levels in parts per million or parts per billion.
A hair tissue mineral analysis is considered a standard test used around the world for the biological monitoring of trace elements and toxic metals in humans and animals species. The same technology is used for soil testing and testing of rock samples to detect mineral levels.
Hair, like all other body tissues, contains minerals that are deposited as the hair grows. Although the hair is dead, the minerals remain as the hair continues to grow out. A sample of hair cut close to the scalp provides information about the mineral activity in the hair that took place over the past three to four months, depending on the rate of hair growth.
It's not necessary to come to the clinic to cut your hair sample. You yourself can cut the hair sample following the instructions and send it to the laboratory with my order from any state in the EE.UU.
Why is Our Hair Analysis Unique?
Several factors combine to make our hair tissue mineral analysis the best in the industry!
I order the hair test with a laboratory that does not wash the hair at the laboratory. Washing hair samples at the laboratory have been shown to erratically wash out the water-soluble elements. This creates much less accurate results. In a 2001 study in the Journal of the AMA (Seidel, S. et al., Assessment of Commercial Laboratories Performing Hair Mineral Analysis, JAMA, 285(1) Jan 3:67-72.) the two laboratories that did not wash the hair showed superb reliability.
The laboratory uses quality control procedures. These include known controls which are tested at the beginning, middle and end of every batch of hair samples to ensure the accuracy of the results.
The laboratory automatically retests any reading that is out of a normally expected range, provided sufficient hair is available for a second sample.
Test results are printed on an easy-to-read graph, unlike many of the other laboratories. This is a great benefit for both doctors and their patients as well. The printed graph includes the mineral results, major mineral ratios, and the oxidation type.
What is the Minimum Amount of Hair to Perform the Multi-Element Mineral Assay?
We currently require a minimum of 125 mgs of hair to complete the entire mineral assay.
Are There Any Special Requirements For Submitting a Hair Sample?
The accuracy and reliability of the test results and interpretation are based upon the laboratory receiving a properly collected hair sample that is clean and free from external contaminants. The ideal hair sample should be collected prior to subjecting the hair to any treatments such as bleaching, permanents, or dyes. This also includes the application of hair sprays, hair creams, gels, and oils. Additionally, the hair should be washed within 24 hours of sampling and must be dry for at least 4 hours after shampooing.
There are several cautions and concerns regarding hair products. Most shampoos, rinses, and conditioners do not contain metals and will not affect the accuracy of the analysis. However, medicated shampoos of concern are Selsun Blue(selenium) and Head and Shoulders(zinc). Grecian Formula contains lead and iron.
The hair sample should be cut as close to the scalp as possible and should be a maximum of 1.5 inches in length. The distal end of the hair longer than 1.5 inches should be discarded. The recommended location for collection would be the nape of the neck.
It is very important to place the hair sample in the sampling envelope provided before sending to the laboratory. Do not place hair samples in plastic baggies or aluminum foil. Do not tape or staple the hair sample to the scale or sampling envelope.
Do not mix different types of hair such as head hair with p***c hair or beard hair in the same sampling envelope. We strongly recommend using head hair only due to its consistent rate of growth. P***c and other body hair should only be used if sufficient head hair is not available.
How Long Does It Take To Have My Hair Tested?
The laboratory procedure generally takes 2-3 weeks.
In Spanish:
Como explique anteriormente TODO SE PUEDE HACER POR INTERNET Y CORREO REGULAR INCLUIDO EL ENVÍO DE LOS PRODUCTOS NATURALES SIN IMPORTAR LA DISTANCIA.
