The Insanity of Color, second night.
Judges’ favorite: “Luggage”
Audience favorite: “Eternals”
I was so grateful and honored to be in the festival. I was ready to come home tonight with that joy alone.
Then I heard the words:
“Crew choice [including the festival directors]… The Insanity of Color!”
We made it to the semifinals next weekend.
I can only keep repeating my deep gratitude over and over… for my superstar actor Michelle Merring; for my incomparable director Jason Hayes; for everyone who came out and voted for us (and we did receive many votes in the other two categories too); for all of the love and support from near and far…
For the festival for giving me this chance…
For my mother, for her complicated love and the amazing quote that became the title of this play…
And for my husband who has supported unflaggingly.
This could not have happened without any of the above.
Semifinals here we come! New event deets to follow soon! ✨

The Insanity of Color, opening night. Forty minutes to curtain.
I’m starting the evening with gratitude. It might sound strange but first on my list is 3rd grade me, who wrote those first two books that my sewed together. They had cardboard covers sealed with wacky 70s contact paper. 3rd grade me never gave up on the current me—-not even when I stuffed my dimmed my own light and stuffed my dreams into the closet. She waited patiently to return to my writing over and over again, fall in love with my curls instead of killing them with chemicals. And here we are. Thank you, baby.
For my mom. The love between us was complicated and real. Thank you Mommy, for the stories, the love, and the infamous quote that became the title of the play.
For Soda and Ashley, the most amazing producers of the Hollywood Short and Sweet Theater Festival.
For the first two-thirds of my Dream Team: Director Jason Hayes and actor Michelle Merring, who are also my dear friends. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have their talent, energy and love.
For all of the friends and loved ones who have supported from near and far and who came out tonight. Among them, the late Tom Jenkins—-he always encouraged me to keep writing.
Saving the best for last:
My husband, co-producer, news cast voiceover artist, and forever Dream Partner Andy. Not enough words. River Deep and Mountain High. Couldn’t do it without you my love.
