Yes, we celebrate ‘Make Your Own Pizza Day’. Using ingredients from our food pantry, residents made pizza dough and sauce, and added their preferred toppings.  We created 11 pizzas for residents to take home and bake. It was such a great turnout that we ended up using all of our ingredients!

Cooking together addresses holistic community health needs by fighting food insecurity, reducing social isolation, and improving dietary habits. By pooling resources and skills in a communal setting, community kitchens and culinary programs foster resilience, boost mental well-being, and empower individuals with lasting life skills.

This year EngAGE has advanced a robust portfolio of intergenerational programming to deepen connections across generations. Expanding diverse and culturally responsive intergen programming within affordable housing communities empowers all generations creatively, socially, and practically in shared experiences & mutual learning.❤️

Gardening Can Be Fun-ny!

There is an unwritten rule at EngAGE: Lifelong Learning must be fun. And MaryAnn showed us how it’s done. This was such an epic battle that we had to share it with you all. And of course, victory was hers...

A huge thank-you to Master Gardener, Bill, sometimes known as “Jack,” “Bob,” “Sam,” or “Hey-You-With-the-Hat. Your visits and continuous support of Piedmont residents do not go unnoticed. Your visits and continuous support of Piedmont residents do not go unnoticed. We greatly appreciate your help and look forward to your next visit.

Residents are learning first hand, gardening offers holistic support by providing accessible, low-impact exercise, easing social isolation, and lowering food costs. Communal and accessible garden spaces empower seniors to “age in place” by fostering physical health, emotional well-being, and a shared sense of community.

Until next time, Happy gardening, everyone!
