The 2022 award season is upon us but unfortunately it's going to look a bit different this year.

• The Golden Globes will take place January 9 but won't be live-streamed and there will be no red carpet or celebrity presenters. The audience will be made up solely of HFPA members and recipients of their philanthropic efforts.

• The Grammys were supposed to be held January 31 but have been postponed indefinitely due to omicron variant surge. A future date has yet to be announced but a spokesperson said, " The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority."

• The Critics Choice Association announced in December that the Critics Choice Awards will no longer take place on January 9. They stated that they are working with the LA County Public Health officials to find another date.

The 2021 Emmy Awards were hosted last night by comedian Cedric the Entertainer at the Microsoft Theater with a live TV broadcast on CBS. Check out the link for the full winners list and a few notable wins below.

- RuPaul breaks the record for Most Emmy Wins by a Person of Color with 11 wins.

- The Netflix drama ,The Crown, took home Emmys for all the major drama categories: Lead Actress (Olivia Colman), Lead Actor (Josh O’Connor), Supporting Actress (Gillian Anderson), Supporting Actor (Menzies), and Drama Series.

- In a first for the award show, women took home directing Emmys for both drama (The Crown‘s Jessica Hobbs for “War”) and comedy (Hacks‘ Lucia Aniello for “There Is No Line (Pilot)”).

Congratulations to Nia DaCosta for becoming first Black woman director to debut film at top of box office with "Candyman."

The horror film, which DaCosta co-wrote with Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, is a sequel to the original 1992 flick and raked in $22 million on opening weekend.
