Meet our 2026 Commencement Student Speaker, Tyisha Pinkston 🎓

A proud Buffalo native, Tyisha graduated from SUNY Erie Community College in December 2025 with an Associate of Arts degree in Human Services. During her time at SUNY Erie, she balanced life as a full-time student and mother while building the confidence, resilience, and passion that continue to guide her journey today.

Tyisha is now continuing her education at Buffalo State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work with the goal of becoming a licensed social worker or mental health counselor serving families and underrepresented communities in Buffalo.

From her impactful internship at The Belle Community Center to her dedication to advocacy and trauma-informed care, Tyisha’s story reflects the strength, compassion, and determination of the Class of 2026.
