⭐️ Workforce Buffalo Success Story Spotlight: Tanasha Vazquez-Camacho ⭐️
Workforce Buffalo proudly celebrates the inspiring journey of Tanasha Vazquez-Camacho, whose resilience and determination led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare after an unexpected change in plans.
After earning her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice–Law Enforcement from Erie Community College, Tanasha was working two jobs while awaiting her police academy testing results. With her sights set on becoming a police officer, she faced a major setback when a knee injury required extensive physical therapy and ultimately prevented her from continuing on that path.
“I realized I needed to chart a new course,” Tanasha shared.
Though uncertain about her next steps, Tanasha found inspiration through her family—her mother, an X-ray technician, and her aunt, a pharmacy technician—who encouraged her to explore opportunities in healthcare.
She enrolled in Trocaire College’s Pharmacy Technician program and connected with ECHC Case Manager Natalie Crespo, who guided her through the application process for the Erie County Healthcare Careers Grant (ECHC).
“I couldn’t have been more relieved. My tuition was fully covered, and I received a stipend to help with transportation while attending school.”
With the support of ECHC, Tanasha successfully completed her training and secured a position as a Pharmacy Technician at Buffalo General Hospital.
“I go to work every day feeling dedicated and grateful, knowing how many obstacles I had to overcome to reach this point.”
Now thriving in her role, Tanasha plans to continue growing in the healthcare field and is excited about the possibilities ahead.
Workforce Buffalo congratulates Tanasha Vazquez-Camacho on her accomplishments and wishes her continued success as she builds her career in healthcare.
